Our school-wide environmental initiative to "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" is off to a great start.

A Message from Dr. Douglas Laurie

President, American Heritage Schools

Our 2019-2020 school-wide environmental initiative is off to a great start, and we wanted to thank you for your participation in helping to ensure a cleaner, safer environment for us all. Our efforts to “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” have gained great traction on both campuses, and we estimate that nearly 1 million water bottles will be saved from environmental exposure through the use of the new water filling stations on campus and the reusable water bottles the students and staff carry daily. We are also happy to report that in both of our campus kitchen facilities, we have completely eliminated Styrofoam and plastics, and we are now using all biodegradable paper products.

In an effort to further eliminate unnecessary waste, we have also transitioned to a digital approach for our Science Fair competitions. Students will no longer be using paper and plastic to construct their science boards. Rather, they will be creating digital projects, thus saving literally tons of refuse from impacting our local landfills and repositories.

Moving forward, we will also continue to educate our school community through awareness videos and various club-sponsored activities and programs, which positively reinforce our “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” initiatives.

Thank you again for partnering with us to ensure that American Heritage continues to produce not only incredibly successful and well-rounded students, but environmentally-conscious students, as well.
