HERITAGE PARENT 101: TECHNOLOGY ORIENTATION FOR NEW PARENTS GRADES 6-12
This program is intended for parents only, but students are welcome to attend. Topics will include, iPads, online bookstore, Magnus Health (online health and athletics forms), Parent Portal (access to grades, assignments and school information). You will also receive information about ongoing help sessions during the summer, which will be available to assist you with each of these topics.
NEW STUDENT TECHNOLOGY ORIENTATION (optional):
All new students in grades 6-12 are invited to attend Using the iPad the American Heritage Way. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if your child would like to attend program in the Upper School Library/Media Center. This programs includes 6th grade only for Lower School; it is intended for students with digital textbooks.
You will receive directions for ordering your books through our online bookstore. This mailing will include a list of classes your child will take when school starts.
You will receive a postcard and an email in July letting you know that information for the start of the year is posted on the Parent Portal. For your convenience (since new families may not be comfortable with the Parent Portal yet), we will also post this information on the New Parent Web Page. A second mailing is sent the first week of August to inform families of their children’s homeroom assignments.
PARENT AND STUDENT ORIENTATION: WELCOME TO THE SCHOOL YEAR!
The goal of this program is to help make parents and students feel comfortable and ready for the first day of school. Students will get a chance to meet their teachers and teacher assistants, see their classrooms, and drop off any books purchased through the online bookstore.
Grade 6: 9-10 a.m.
Grade 5: 10-11 a.m.
Grade 4: 11-12:00 p.m.
Grade 3: 12-1:00 p.m.
Grade 2: 1-2:00 p.m.
Grade K/1: 1-2:00 p.m.
PARENT PORTAL TRAINING

Parent training for the Portal will take place this fall before “Back to School Night” at 6:00 p.m. in Lab 45-100. This is a great opportunity to make sure that you are able to access important information such as homework assignments, grades, announcements, etc. Back to School Night follows the portal training in the classroom.
