Top Scholars - Class of 2022

Congratulations to the Class of 2022 Top Scholars

Top Scholars - Class of 2022

The tradition of selecting a valedictorian goes back to 1772 at The College of William & Mary, in recognition of the student most skilled in Latin written composition and oratory, later on giving way to the student with the top GPA as the criteria for selecting the valedictorian.

Because of the number of students at a very high level, and GPAs so close in number, American Heritage Schools started its own tradition by recognizing the top 3% of the graduating class as Top Scholars versus only one valedictorian and salutatorian award. This is done at both the Broward and Palm Beach campus.

“The Top Scholars are the most distinguished students that represent the top 3% of their graduating class. They have GPAs that are so close, we wanted to recognize more students,” said Elise Blum, Principal, Broward Campus.

The students will be recognized at their Senior Awards Ceremony as well as on graduation day by wearing stoles and medals to honor their achievements. Top Scholars have the honor of leading the graduation processional and will have front row seats, so that they may be recognized individually in the welcome address. They will be the first students to receive diplomas, and one Top Scholar will represent the group as the Scholar Speaker.

This tradition started with the graduating class of 2021 when they entered as freshmen and will remain for years to come. Congratulations to these outstanding students!
