Junior High Students Secure Elite Top-16 Placement at National Science Bowl Championship

American Heritage Schools’ Junior High National Science Bowl team delivered an elite performance at the national finals, advancing to the Top 16 in the United States. Led by faculty advisor Dr. Michelli, the team competed against the country's premier young scientific minds, securing a $1,000 prize to fund and expand the school’s advanced science programs.
The National Science Bowl, managed by the U.S. Department of Energy, is one of the most prestigious academic STEM competitions in the nation. Teams compete in a fast-paced, jeopardy-style format, answering complex, college-level questions across multiple disciplines, including biology, chemistry, Earth and space science, physics, and mathematics.
Advancing to the Top 16 requires not only deep individual subject matter expertise but also highly synchronized team dynamics, rapid computational skills, and strategic buzzer management under intense time constraints.
The outstanding roster that secured this national standing includes:
- Joshua Mishkin (Captain)
- Sophia McCartney
- Brandon Miller
- Ojas Mynampati
- Lauryn Heastie
Congratulations to Dr. Michelli and the entire team for their dedication and for representing our institution with academic excellence on the national stage.
