Holiday Party for Pediatric Cancer Patients

Holiday Party for Pediatric Cancer Patients

Every year the Pre-Med Society hosts holiday parties for patients at Broward Health Salah Foundation Children's Hospital. This year, due to COVID concerns and the safety of the patients, the students decided to do something different. Because they are heavily immunocompromised, the holiday party has been replaced with a Toy Drive Caravan instead, happening on December 11, 2021, from 2:00 - 5:00pm at American Heritage, Broward Campus.

The A Road for the Cure Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to bettering the lives of the children afflicted with cancer at Broward Health. On a normal year, they work hard and tirelessly to raise money for their annual Holiday Party and use the donations to purchase all of the gifts on the children’s Christmas wish lists, which their families are usually unable to afford due to the costly medical care of childhood cancer.

With this Toy Drive event, the children will be able to receive their gifts this holiday season! The students hand wrap all of the gifts and place them into personalized Santa bags to be distributed to each and every child. This year, it has been especially challenging to raise funds for these incredibly deserving children due to COVID-19, but this won’t stop the pre-med society members from going all out for the pediatric patients and with everyone’s help, they can still buy all of the presents on their wish lists! Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
