Educators Honored with Buddy Ambassador Award
Ann Benedetto and Michelle Sukenik, two exceptional educators from American Heritage Schools, Palm Beach Campus, were recently honored with the Buddy Ambassador Award at a celebratory luncheon. This prestigious award, which recognizes educators and counselors who foster a culture of kindness and compassion in schools, was given to Benedetto and Sukenik for their dedication to promoting kindness in their communities. They were celebrated alongside a cohort of other educators from Palm Beach County who share this commitment.
The Buddy Ambassador program aims to encourage kindness, empathy, and respect within educational environments, recognizing the pivotal role that teachers and counselors play in shaping students' character. At the event, it was clear that the honorees have made a significant impact by creating spaces where students feel valued, supported, and inspired to practice kindness.
Dr. Jeri Muoio, former Mayor of West Palm Beach and a longtime advocate for education, served as the event's keynote speaker. Muoio, who also has a background as a school superintendent, delivered a powerful speech on the importance of kindness in schools. Drawing on compelling statistics and real-world examples, she highlighted how character education, starting with simple acts of kindness, contributes to a positive and productive school culture. Muoio emphasized that when students feel seen and appreciated, it boosts their academic success, mental well-being, and overall growth.
The Buddy Ambassador Awards luncheon provided a space for attendees to connect, reflect, and celebrate the achievements of educators who go above and beyond in their efforts to inspire kindness. As they received their awards, Ann Benedetto and Michelle Sukenik expressed their gratitude and commitment to continuing their work in nurturing compassionate school communities.
The organizers expressed heartfelt congratulations to the ten educators and counselors who received the Buddy Ambassador Award, commending them for their dedication to shaping the character of young people in Palm Beach County. “Thank you for all that you do to help build and shape the character of children. We appreciate you,” they shared.
For those who attended, the event was both a celebration and a reminder of the essential role that kindness plays in education. One attendee commented, “It’s inspiring to see educators being recognized not just for their teaching but for the heart and dedication they put into fostering kindness every day.”
As the afternoon concluded, the message was clear: educators like Benedetto and Sukenik are making a tangible difference in the lives of their students and communities. The Buddy Ambassador Award not only celebrates their achievements but also serves as an inspiration for others to carry forward the values of kindness and empathy. This luncheon highlighted the importance of cultivating a school environment where all students feel supported, motivated, and encouraged to be their best selves.
