Environmental Leadership: AHS Raises $2,725 for the Everglades Foundation
American Heritage Schools (AHS) has always been dedicated to fostering a sense of environmental responsibility and community involvement among our students. This commitment was vividly displayed on July 16th when our very own Ms. Lindsey Klink from our Broward Campus and Ms. Leslee Scruggs from our Palm Beach campus, both esteemed environmental science teachers, attended the Everglades Symposium in Miami. Our science teachers had the honor of presenting a check to the Everglades Foundation, marking the success of the 1st Annual AHS Run for the Everglades.
The AHS Run for the Everglades, held this past spring, was a landmark event that not only promoted health and wellness among participants but also raised funds for a vital cause. The event saw a tremendous turnout from our school community and supporters, and the proceeds amounted to an impressive $2,725.65. This donation was gratefully received by Mr. Carlos M. De La Cruz, Jr., Chairman of the Board for the Everglades Foundation, during the symposium.
At the symposium, Mrs. Klink was also honored with the Gold Medal Coin and Banner, a testament to her and our school's dedication to environmental education and conservation efforts. The Broward Campus was recognized for achieving Gold status, an upgrade from our previous Silver status, thanks to the efforts and enthusiasm of our Lower School students, with over 95% student participation in lessons about the Everglades. This achievement highlights the collective effort of our students, faculty, and the broader school community to make meaningful contributions to environmental conservation.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who participated and supported the AHS 5K Run for the Everglades. Special thanks to Dowbuilt for their generous donation, our AHS Marketing team, Split Second Timing for their impeccable event management, and our dedicated student volunteers who made this event a resounding success.
The success of the 1st Annual AHS Run for the Everglades is just the beginning. We are excited about future initiatives and events that will continue to support the Everglades Foundation and other environmental causes. Our school remains committed to integrating environmental stewardship into our curriculum and community activities, ensuring that our students not only excel academically but also develop a deep respect and responsibility for our natural world.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. Together, we can make a difference!
