A Spectacular End To One Of The Best Robotics Seasons

The Robotics Team 5472: The Wyld Stallyns from American Heritage Schools, Palm Beach Campus, competed in the FIRST Robotics World Championships in Houston, Texas, with a spectacular end to one of the best seasons of the team’s history.

The Wyld Stallyns started off their season in West Palm Beach, earning a record of 13-5-0, and winning the following awards at the South Florida Regional: Regional Finalists and The Industrial Design Award sponsored by General Motors.

Two weeks later, the Wyld Stallyns Robotics Team went to the Orlando Regional, where they again were a finalist and earned their trip to the World Championships. Team 5472 had a record of 11-5-1 and won Regional Finalists and the Creativity Award sponsored by Rockwell Automation.

2023 FIRST Robotics World Championships

Out of the thousands of teams worldwide, just over 600 teams qualified to compete for the top prize at the FIRST Robotics World Championships in Houston. Teams were divided into 8 Divisions and competed in qualifying matches over the course of two intense days of competition. The Wyld Stallyns fought hard, giving their all in every match and playing some of the best matches they had all season. At the end of the grueling two days, the Stallyns found themselves 1st of all 78 teams in their division. This meant the Wyld Stallyns was the #1 Seeded Alliance Captain and they selected Team 4613 Barker Redbacks Robotics from Sydney, Australia; Team 4946 the Alpha Dogs from Ontario, Canada; and Team 3641 The Flying Toasters from South Lyon, Michigan. These four teams made up Alliance 1, the top-seeded alliance, which swept through the playoffs all the way until the finals. Unfortunately, the alliance came up just short in the final matches.

Team 5472 is extremely proud of its accomplishments this entire season. From kickoff to championships, the students and mentors gave their best efforts and had an incredibly successful, educational, and fun season.

“A big thank you to our senior class who have helped team 5472 tremendously over the past four years. Their impact will not be forgotten. A huge thanks to our supporters, parents, administration, sponsors, and American Heritage Schools, Palm Beach campus, for giving us this opportunity. A very special thanks to our school's founder Mr. William “Bill” Laurie.” - Taiowa Donovan, Director of Robotics Program
