In addition to requiring written recommendations from principals, program directors, and teachers, finalists are also required to participate in an interview process.

The Pathfinder Awards marked their 40th year with 530 candidates. The first-place winner in each of the 18 categories received a $3,000 scholarship. Second and third-place winners received $2,000 and $1,500, respectively.

“We congratulate all of the Pathfinder Award winners, as well as the nominees,” said Palm Beach Post Executive Editor Rick Christie. “With the help of their parents and loved ones, these students are laying the groundwork for a great future. We wish them well."
