Performing Arts

The Band program includes 4 types of band: concert band, pep band, jazz band, and rock band.

• Band instruction starts in 4th grade with the recorder, progressing to full band instruments through senior year


• Co-curricular activity with participation both in and outside the classroom


• Basic music theory reinforced through various levels of compositions


• Opportunities for solo performances, chamber groups, and large ensembles

The Choral Program includes 3 types of choir groups: Show Choir, Chorus Mixed, and Jr. High Chorus.

• Quality vocal production, part singing, and choral literature across periods and styles
   
• Fundamental and advanced skill development
   
• Florida All-State Honor Choirs, ACDA Honor Choirs, University of Miami Honor Choirs, and FAU Honor Choirs participation
   
• Performances at local venues and prestigious stages in the US

The Dance Program offers 6 levels of dance instruction focusing on classical, jazz, and modern contemporary styles.

• Classroom instruction, annual recitals, student-created choreography
   
• Training by professional dancers in state-of-the-art studios
   
• Flexibility, fitness, stretching, cardio, and full-body exercises
   
• Varsity football game performances, local and national competition dance team

The Guitar Program offers 8 levels of guitar and recognized as one of the strongest programs in South Florida, consistently earning Superior ratings.

• In-classroom learning and performance opportunities, including concerts and evaluations
   
• College preparation with a focus on conservatory and university acceptances, often with scholarships
   
• Basic and jazz theory, reinforced through improvisations and compositions
   
• Exposure to classical, flamenco, jazz, blues, rock, and funk

The Orchestra program is among the most successful programs in South Florida, consistently earning Superior ratings.

• Symphony orchestra, Junior High orchestra, wind ensemble, and percussion ensemble
   
• Experience required for high school students
   
• Honors credit available for advanced students

The Piano Program offers a piano and keyboard group class with a class size limited to 8 students, with the chance to advance at their own pace.

• Develop skills in music reading, music vocabulary, scales, dynamics, tempos, and performance


• Performance opportunities include: concerts, fine arts festivals, county, state and national competitions


• Showcase skills and talent at district Music Performance Assessments (MPA)


• Superior ratings at district and state Florida Vocal Association competitions
   
• Opportunity to take the class as an elective starting in 5th grade all the way to 12th grade

The Theatre Program offers multi-level and comprehensive performance and technical theatre courses such as 7 levels of acting and 6 levels of sound and lighting, starting in 1st grade, all the way to 12th grade.

• Taught by skilled professional artists in state-of-the-art facilities


• Local, state, regional, national, and international awards for outstanding work


• Professional education and experience for those aspiring to pursue theatre arts as a career


• Technical theatre experience gained through courses and student-led productions which include backstage crew roles, and competition at district, regional, and state levels
   
• Program covers Play Production, Scene Design, Stagecraft, Light Design, Sound Production, Theatre Business, Publicity, and Marketing
