Gabriella Geer, a junior at the American Heritage Schools, Palm Beach Campus, achieved a significant community service goal during her recent winter break. She organized and hosted a benefit concert called Christmas Lights Night, which brought in nearly $7,000 in a single evening. These funds went directly to the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) to support vital research and treatment innovation.

This past summer, Gabriella founded Notes of Hope, a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization. As a 16-year-old survivor of a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and Post-Concussion Syndrome, Gabriella started the initiative to help others navigating "invisible injuries." She experienced the isolation that often accompanies conditions that others cannot see and wanted to build a community centered on support and education.

The Christmas Lights Night event welcomed more than 90 attendees who participated in an evening of musical performances and purchased handcrafted merchandise. The success of the night allowed Gabriella to contribute a significant donation to the BIAA national mission.

A central part of the Notes of Hope mission involves the use of music to assist in neuroplasticity and cognitive recovery. Scientific research shows that melody and rhythm can help the brain rewire and rebuild after an injury. Gabriella used her platform to explain these benefits and show how musical engagement can improve emotional stability for survivors.

Through her nonprofit, Gabriella provided resources to help others begin their own healing journeys. She combined her personal experience with a commitment to fundraising for brain injury research, ensuring that every dollar raised through merchandise and events supported advanced treatment methods.

The organization continues to operate as a nonprofit association led by volunteers. Proceeds from their ongoing efforts are forwarded to the Brain Injury Association of America and approved research partners.
