The American Heritage Schools, Palm Beach Campus, recently celebrated a significant achievement in the theatre arts. Dhruv Patel, a 9th-grade student, traveled to the historic Biltmore in Palm Beach to represent our school at the 37th Annual Shakespeare Recitation Contest. This long-standing event brings together talented young performers from across the region to celebrate the works of William Shakespeare through classical recitation and performance.

During the competition, Dhruv delivered a sophisticated performance that included a monologue from the character Benedick in the comedy Much Ado About Nothing. He paired this theatrical piece with a recitation of one of Shakespeare’s sonnets, demonstrating a strong grasp of Elizabethan language and rhythm. His ability to interpret the humor and complexity of the text earned him praise from the judges.

The contest has a rich history in the Palm Beach community. Founded in 1988 by Mrs. Helen Rich, the competition has hosted more than 2,000 students over the last three decades. By participating, Dhruv joined a prestigious group of young actors dedicated to preserving classical theatre.

In recognition of his preparation and stage presence, Dhruv received a $100 prize. The Fine Arts Department at the Palm Beach Campus remains committed to providing students with these high-level performance opportunities, ensuring they develop the confidence and technical skills required for the stage. We look forward to returning to the Biltmore for this inspiring event in future seasons.
