Students Win Prestigious Grand Awards in Global Science Research Competition

The International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) stands as a pinnacle of global student science research competitions. Millions of students worldwide strive to participate, but only a select 1,800 from approximately 80 countries, regions, and territories earn the honor of showcasing their innovative research at this esteemed event. This year, American Heritage Schools Palm Beach Campus students demonstrated exceptional talent, securing two coveted Grand Awards.

These Grand Awards represent the highest honors students can achieve at ISEF, placing them among the world's best in their respective scientific categories. Notably, American Heritage School Palm Beach received the highest grand award granted to any school in the state of Florida, a remarkable achievement in STEM.

Grand Award Winners from American Heritage Palm Beach:

• Kasey Moore (10th Grade): Awarded 2nd in the World in Translational Medicine. Kasey received a $2,400 cash prize for her project: "The Effect of Uncaria tomentosa (Cat’s Claw) and Gut Microbiome Dysbiosis Repair With Bacillus subtilis in Locomotion and Alpha Synuclein Aggregation in Caenorhabditis elegans Transgenic Strain NL5901, an Animal Model for Parkinson’s Disease." Her research offers potential new insights into Parkinson's Disease treatment.
• Aishwarya Deshpande (11th Grade): Awarded 4th in the World in Material Sciences. Aishwarya earned a $600 cash award for her project: "Developing a Hyaluronic Acid Coated Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticle Based Controlled Delivery System as an Antitumor Therapy." This innovative project explores new avenues for cancer treatment.

Special Awards Recognition:

Beyond the Grand Awards, Palm Beach students also received significant Special Awards:

• Siyuan Du (12th Grade): Received a Special Award from the Midwest Microelectronics Consortium, including a $3,000 cash prize. His project was titled: "Protecting Your Privacy: A Constitutional Filter to Prevent AI From Inferring Your Personal Information," tackling a critical issue in AI and data privacy.
• Aishwarya Deshpande (11th Grade): Also received a Fourth Award of $600 in Material Sciences, sponsored by Howmet Aerospace Foundation, for her project on Antitumor Therapy.

These accomplishments highlight the dedication of the Science Research students to advanced research and their ability to compete and succeed on the world stage. Their success at the International Science and Engineering Fair is a testament to their hard work and the school's strong STEM program.
