Robotics Team Ranked 1st in Florida, Going to World Championship
Congratulations to the robotics team, the Wyld Stallyns, from American Heritage Schools, Palm Beach Campus, for being ranked #1 in Florida after their participation in the 2023 FIRST Robotics Orlando Regional Competition, at the University of Central Florida's Addition Financial Arena.
The team, composed of 30 students, had outstanding success in the qualifying rounds. Going into the playoffs, Team 5472 was ranked 4th overall and elected to form their own alliance with two other teams. The alliance went undefeated throughout the playoffs and even set the highest score of the tournament at 162 points! In the finals, they faced the top-seeded alliance of three teams that they knew very well already from previous competitions.
After a tough battle, the Wyld Stallyns came up just short, losing in the fourth and final tiebreaker match. Despite losing in the finals, Team 5472 earned a bid to the FIRST World Championships in Houston, Texas!
Team 5472 also won the Creativity Award, which recognizes “creative strategy” of play due to intentional design, and the Finalist Award for being the alliance captain of the 2nd place alliance.
Furthermore, their impressive performance at the Orlando Regional Competition has resulted in their being ranked 40th internationally, 36th nationally, and 1st in the state of Florida.
