What You Can Expect In The Coming Months

The information below will help to prepare your family to join us for the upcoming school year.

Placement Testing & Advising Meeting

American Heritage and Academy Upper Schools:

You will receive a call from our registrar to schedule any necessary placement tests, and to set up a meeting with your child’s assigned advisor. The advisor will help your child select courses for the upcoming school year.

American Heritage and Academy Lower Schools:

Students in grades 4-6 whose admissions testing and school records indicate high achievement in mathematics will be tested for placement. Our registrar will contact you to schedule a mutually convenient date for testing.

Pre-Order for Clear Backpack

In March, you will receive information on how to pre-order your child/children’s clear backpack(s) for the upcoming school year. Please note that all students must utilize clear backpacks while on campus.

Health Care Forms

In June, all new and returning families will receive an email with information about our health records system, Magnus Health. We will provide instructions for accessing the system through the parent portal and how to upload your child’s required health records. All health forms must be submitted online; students MAY NOT begin school if these forms are not completed.

Bookstore Mailing and Supply Lists

You will receive directions for ordering your books through our online bookstore. This mailing will include a list of classes your child will take when school starts. Lower School families will also receive a list of needed school supplies based on their child’s grade level. Upper School students will be informed of any necessary supplies by their individual teachers once school starts.

School Fees Reminder

Please look out for our reminder that the school fees are due. This fee covers digital textbooks, content, and course materials; campus security; and PTO fees. For Upper School, this fee also includes in-class SAT and ACT prep, an SAT/ACT College Guidance Readiness Class, a PSAT test, and graduation fees for seniors.

Parent Portal Access

In late July/early August you will receive access to our parent portal. The portal is your primary source of information during the school year. Not only will it provide you with constantly updated information and resources, but it also connects you to your child’s grades, classes, and weekly assignments. It is also vital that you connect to the parent portal in order to complete mandatory health forms.

Summer Mailings

You will receive a postcard and an email in July letting you know that information is posted on the parent portal. A second mailing is sent the first week of August to inform families of their children’s homeroom assignments (Lower School) or schedules (Upper School).

Bus Information

In July, you will also receive information on the school’s bus services. This will include express bus locations and door-to-door service. Here is a link to the most current bus information, which is subject to change.
