American Heritage Is The #1 School in Florida

For The Highest Number of Nationally Recognized Scholars

American Heritage Schools is proud to recognize our nationally recognized scholars in the Class of 2022. American Heritage Schools, Broward Campus is the #1 school in Florida and #2 private school in the nation for the highest number of National Merit Finalists and Semifinalists; the Schools' second campus in Palm Beach County is #2 in National Merit Finalists and Semifinalists out of all schools in Florida and #5 private school in the nation; The combined students from both campuses comprise 10% of all National Merit Finalists and Semifinalists throughout the 2,227 public and private schools in Florida. 

Congratulations to the seniors named National Merit Scholars, including 77 Finalists & Semifinalists, 62 National Commended Scholars, 44 National Hispanic Recognition Program* and 17 National African American Recognition Program*. This marks the 12th straight year American Heritage has had the highest number of National Merit Finalists in Florida.

In addition, 21 seniors* were recognized as U.S. Presidential Scholar Candidates, making American Heritage Schools the No. 1 school in Florida for the highest number of Presidential Scholar Candidates. The U.S. Presidential Scholars is the nation’s most prestigious recognition for distinguished graduating high school seniors. The students are selected based on their academic success, artistic excellence, essays, school evaluations, and transcripts, as well as evidence of community service, leadership, and demonstrated commitment to high ideals.

“I am so proud of these students for earning this extremely prestigious award,” said Dr. Douglas Laurie, president of American Heritage Schools. “Not only are they nationally recognized as the top one percent academically, but they are also extremely well-rounded, excelling both in and out of the classroom in fine arts, sports, and community service,” Laurie added.

In addition to the millions of dollars in possible scholarships, these bright students now have new opportunities for college and confidence about their futures. According to the National Merit Scholarship organization, colleges such as Harvard, Stanford, University of Chicago, and Vanderbilt enroll the greatest number of National Merit Scholars.
