Internships

The four-year Pre-Law program culminates in a senior year internship when students experience the practice of law in real life. Seniors leave campus a few times per week to rotate through different law firms, agencies, offices, and courtrooms throughout South Florida. They also visit judges in Circuit Court, the County Sheriff's Office, the State Attorney's Office, the Public Defender’s Office, and the United States Attorney’s office. The connections our seniors make with practicing judges and attorneys are invaluable and often result in future law school acceptances and jobs.

Societies, Community Service, and Competitions

Societies

Students pursue their passion through engagement in the Pre-Law Society, one of the largest student-run organizations on campus. Students explore current legal topics and interact with guest attorneys and judges who discuss their practice specialties. Students are encouraged to try out for competitive teams such as Mock Trial and Moot Court.

Community Outreach

The Pre-Law Society hosts several fundraisers each year for law-related causes such as “Stand Up For Innocence” a comedy show event benefiting the Innocence Project of Florida; “A K-9 Cause” Evening of Art benefiting the Sheriff’s Foundation of Broward County K-9 Unit, and “Kids In Distress Holiday Gift Drive” fulfilling wish lists for kids.

Competitions

American Heritage’s Pre-Law Program is the top private school in the nation in Mock Trial and Moot Court competitions. Practicing veteran criminal attorneys and judges coach the middle school Mock Trial/Moot Court and High School Mock Trial/Moot Court students.
