Individual and Targeted Attention

Students receive instruction in a variety of ways. Our teachers use a multi-sensory approach to learning that incorporates the most current educational research and resources to be effective for each student. At The American Academy, ESE certified teachers have the knowledge and experience with various learning disabilities to modify curriculum and instruction based on the student’s academic needs. The smaller class size, one certified teacher, and one full-time teacher assistant for lower school grades, also ensures that every student receives individualized attention.

Lower School Students at The American Academy will also receive a personalized reading instruction plan designed and taught by a Master level or higher Reading Specialist. Our experienced Reading Specialists are highly skilled and well trained. All students are formally assessed each quarter to identify progress in targeted areas.

Upper School Students at The American Academy continue to receive reading instruction within each academic subject and academic electives. Reading instruction and strategies are prevalent throughout the classes to assist in developing critical thinking. An emphasis is placed on reading for knowledge and pleasure.
