Robotics Students Represent Florida in China Exchange Program

A group of 31 students and faculty from both campuses of American Heritage Schools traveled to China as part of the Jiangsu-American Young Envoys Scholarship (YES) Program. This 12-day journey focused on high-level STEM collaboration and international diplomacy, positioning our robotics students as ambassadors of American innovation.

Advanced Technical Exchange in Nanjing and Changzhou

The delegation engaged in deep technical sessions at prestigious institutions, including Nanjing Jinling High School, Changzhou Tianjiabing Senior High School, and the Changzhou Vocational Institute of Engineering. During these visits, our students demonstrated their custom-built robots, sharing engineering strategies and programming techniques with their Chinese peers. This collaborative environment allowed for a direct exchange of ideas regarding robotics design and problem-solving in a global context.

Witnessing the Future of Automotive Manufacturing

A central component of the program was an exclusive tour of the Li Auto Factory. Students observed the integration of automation and artificial intelligence in modern automotive manufacturing. This industry-level access provided a clear view of how the robotics principles learned in our labs at home are applied in large-scale, professional engineering environments abroad.

Cultural Immersion and Historical Discovery

Beyond the technical labs, the program offered extensive historical insight into the Jiangsu region. Students walked the Ming Dynasty City Wall and visited the Confucius Temple, the Nanjing Imperial Examination Museum, and Yuejiang Tower. A stop at the Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo allowed the group to see pandas, while a visit to Xuanwu Lake offered a perspective on the region’s natural heritage.

Shanghai: The Final Chapter

The trip concluded in Shanghai, where students visited the American Heritage Learning Center. The team participated in a Vex Robotics mock tournament, testing their adaptability and skill in a new setting. The visit ended with a river cruise along the Bund, providing a final opportunity for the group to reflect on the international connections and technical knowledge gained during this immersion program.
