Heritage Psychology Club Shines Bright with Top Places at Neuroscience Event
The Psychology Club at American Heritage Schools, Broward Campus, made a remarkable impact at the Annual Brain Bee neuroscience event hosted by Nova Southeastern University (NSU). The event brought together students from various schools to compete and explore the latest research in the fields of Psychology and Pharmacology. Competing against schools like Fort Lauderdale High, Miramar High, and Nova High, our students showcased their talent and dedication to clinch four out of six awards!

In the Brain Bee oral competition, where participants demonstrated their knowledge and understanding of neuroscience, Akshay Kumar secured a remarkable Second Place, earning a Silver medal along with a $50 Visa gift card. Notably, around 20 students contended in the initial round, with 9 progressing to the oral phase. Among these finalists were three outstanding Heritage students. We also extend recognition to Jara Jacobson, who exhibited exceptional prowess, making it to the second round and finishing in 4th place.

In the Poster competition, Heritage students excelled yet again. Hanna Zhang claimed the coveted First Place, earning a Gold medal and a $100 Visa gift card for her outstanding research on intermittent fasting. Adding to the triumph, Akshay Kumar secured Second Place for his compelling poster on new treatments for ADHD, while Roshini Shivakumar clinched Third Place with her insightful study on the effects of traumatic brain injury.

Furthermore, other Heritage students showcased their research prowess with noteworthy posters. Maria Denishenko presented a compelling study on conduct disorder, while Mia Hernandez explored psychosis in systemic lupus.
