Football Team Secures Back-to-Back State Championships

The football team from American Heritage Schools, Broward Campus, earned a thrilling 33-28 victory over Orlando Jones to win the Florida 4A State Championship. This hard-fought win marked the second consecutive year the Patriots defeated Jones in the title game, confirming their status as a powerhouse in South Florida high school football.
As reported by Mark Stallworth for the Miami New Times, the game was a "back-and-forth classic" that required immense composure. The Patriots relied on efficient execution to survive the high-stakes rematch. Quarterback Leon Strawder led the offense with a stellar performance, completing 12 of 18 passes for two touchdowns. Strawder also added 71 rushing yards and a rushing score, proving his explosiveness on the ground.

With this win, Strawder secured a rare place in history by winning three state championships at three different schools: Miami Central (2022), Miami Northwestern (2024), and now American Heritage (2025). This achievement confirmed his legacy as one of the most impactful quarterbacks in the region.
The presence of Heritage alumni and current Miami Hurricanes players Mark Fletcher and Malachi Toney elevated the atmosphere at the championship. The former Patriots attended to support their alma mater while preparing for the College Football Playoff, serving as a reminder of the schools’ deep connection to college football success.

The American Heritage Schools community celebrates this incredible accomplishment, which reflects the dedication of the players, coaches, and staff. The 2025 title win adds another chapter to the schools’ rich history of athletic excellence.
