Theatre Kicks Off Season with Sold-Out Hit

The Theatre Department began its 2025-2026 season with the popular production, "Checking In." The engaging one-act play, written by Trace Wells, was met with a full run of sold-out houses, confirming the enthusiasm for the fine arts program on campus.
"Checking In" is a delightful vignette-style comedy centered on the humorous events and lifetime stories that unfold at the Regency Arms Hotel. The play explores themes that "life is a journey, travel it well," and emphasizes the importance of the people we meet along the way. The production provided the student actors with great opportunities to practice their comedic chops and refine their skills in character development, acting, and storytelling.
A unique element of this play is its upcoming use in theatre competition. The demands of competition, including the requirement for the set to be easily transportable and assembled by the actors and crew in under two minutes, encouraged valuable student involvement and creative problem-solving.

The success of "Checking In," with most of the cast playing multiple roles, has provided much-appreciated laughter and a fantastic start to the season for the Broward Theatre Department.
