String Musicians Secure Multiple Awards at Music State Junior Convention

Student string musicians from American Heritage Schools, Broward Campus, delivered an outstanding performance at the Florida Federation of Music Clubs (FFMC) State Junior Convention. Competing against the top youth instrumentalists in the state, our student-musicians secured multiple first-place finishes and major division titles, reflecting the high technical standards of our Fine Arts Program.
Championship and Solo Divisions
The state-level competition evaluates technical precision, intonation, shifting accuracy, and mature stylistic interpretation. Our students excelled across multiple string disciplines:
- Ivan Kalashnykov secured the definitive title in the Viola Senior Concerto division with a flawless performance of Carl Maria von Weber’s complex Andante and Rondo. Ungarese. He additionally took home multiple first-place and honorable mention awards.
- Sohail Hai & Simon Aljure-Juaregui earned a sophisticated sweep of multiple 1st Place finishes and Honorable Mention accolades in both the violin and viola categories.
- John Zhao (Grade 8) demonstrated advanced artistry at the junior high level, capturing multiple state awards for his competitive violin solos.
Advanced Instrumental Training
Performing pieces like Weber's concerto demands an elite command of the instrument, including rapid string crossings, intricate bowing techniques, and precise double-stops. We congratulate these exceptional instrumentalists on their state championships and dedication to classical performance.
