JH Theatre Department Stages Sold-Out Performance of "The Giver"

The Junior High Theatre Department recently achieved major success with its production of The Giver. Adapted by Eric Coble from the Newbery Award-winning novel by Lois Lowry, the play drew enthusiastic crowds, with early shows selling out and fewer than 10 seats available per night.
The production of The Giver presented a rewarding challenge for our young actors. The junior high students worked with a complex storyline that explores both great joy and deep pain, which strengthened their skills in complex character building and storytelling. The performance allowed both the student actors and the audience to experience the famous novel from an interactive angle.
To fully immerse the audience in the fictional utopian world, the production included special slide projections and a unique sound and lighting design.
A special feature of this event was the collaboration with the American Heritage English Department. Student work based on The Giver was displayed in the Fine Arts building hallways during the play's run. This partnership deepened the educational experience, connecting the Fine Arts program with the academic study of world-renowned literature.

The success of The Giver confirms the talent of our junior high theatre students and the quality of the school's performing arts education.
