Our School

American Heritage Schools, Broward Campus is an independent, nonsectarian, co-educational day school for grades PK3 through 12 with approximately 2,900 students. The high school, grades 9-12, has a student population of 1,650 students. Our student to faculty ratio is 5:1. American Heritage Schools is a tuition-only school where, in an effort to make all families equal, we do not ask for, nor accept, donations. We are managed by veteran educators, and we have
no governing board. It is paramount that all our staff have a vested interest in American Heritage Schools; therefore, the children of faculty and staff receive full tuition to our school.

Graduation Requirements

American Heritage Schools has two (2) semesters per year, and credits are granted at the end of each semester. In addition, all students are required to complete 120 hours of community service.

All classes are 50 minutes long and meet five (5) times each week. To graduate, a student must have earned a total of 24 credits, Carnegie units.

The graduation requirements are as follows:

English 4 credits

Math 4 credits, (One Year Beyond Algebra II)

Science 3 credits, including Biology and Chemistry or Physics (4 recommended)

Social Studies 3 credits, including World History, U.S. History, Economics, Government (4 recommended)

World Language 2 credits, (in grades 9 – 12), (3 recommended)

Fine Arts 0.5 credit

Physical Education 0.5 credit

Additional Courses 7 credits of student’s choice

Explanation of Fees

Digital Textbooks, Content, & Course Materials: This covers all digital content including digital textbooks and online programs. This fee also covers all other classroom and lab materials used during the year. You may also be required to purchase a limited number of print books through our online bookstore.

SAT/ACT: College Guidance Readiness Class: The school fees for the SAT/ACT College Readiness Intensive class covers nine weeks of preparation for the SAT and ACT, taught by some of the best instructors in the USA. The fees allow for students to take this class once during their high school career. Students may repeat the SAT/ACT class for an additional charge. A second nine weeks of college guidance and preparation is offered for the completion of a full semester for credit class which will prepare students not only for their college entrance exams, but also give them an extra edge on college guidance. Choice of live or online classes - $3,750 value.

In Class SAT/ACT Prep: In an effort to provide the very best SAT/ACT Prep to our students, American Heritage Schools (including American Academy Program) provide 20 minutes of classwork per week in High School math and English classes. Students also receive access to the online App for at home practice. Over the course of three years, students will receive over 60 hours of test preparation. This is a $1,200 value.

Activities: Students receive a yearbook and a school ID. This also covers PTO dues, and free admission to or online viewing of regular season on-campus athletic events and all Fine Arts productions.

Security: Includes safety enhancements. Among these are: the addition of (2) armed police officers and (2) armed full-time security staff on the premises during school days; the additional security staff for the checkpoint areas for the backpack protocol; the installation of perimeter fencing with self-contained alarm and camera system; the construction of a security office including the latest surveillance equipment; installation of bullet resistant glass in all doors and classrooms; expert training in self-defense for all faculty members; purchasing of trauma kits for all classrooms and expert training for all faculty in the use of these kits; purchase of card swipe for electronic access to all elevators and exterior building entrances.

Technology: This covers computer licenses for 24 database subscriptions which students can access on campus and from home. Included also are student subscriptions to Turnitin.com and Noodle Tools. Funds are also used to maintain current hardware and software needs to support teaching and learning across campus and provide for campus-wide broadband Wi-Fi.

PSAT (9th - 11th grade only): All students in grades 9-11 take the PSAT in October. This fee covers registration and proctoring costs.

Graduation (12th grade): All costs associated with graduation are covered including cap and gown (which students will keep), 9 tickets, diploma and cover, and links to Senior Videos and Graduation.
