American Heritage Schools earned the title of overall champions at the Southeast Elementary Science Olympiad. Held at Florida Atlantic University, the competition brought together top students to test their skills across 15 scientific disciplines. Our Lower School Science Olympiad team demonstrated exceptional technical knowledge and analytical thinking, securing a first-place finish for the Broward campus.

Results-Driven Academic Performance

The team’s performance was defined by consistent placement across a wide range of events. Out of 15 categories, American Heritage students earned medals in 11. Individual student attainment was high, with 14 out of the 15 participating students receiving at least one event medal.

The school secured top placements in several categories:

  • First Place: Mission Possible and Deep Blue Sea.
  • Second Place: Can't Judge a Powder, Rock Hound, Tennis Ball Catapult, and Codebusters.
  • Third Place: A Matter of Matter, Fast Facts, Crave the Wave, Mystery Architecture, and Metric Mania.

Competitors worked in groups of 2 or 3 for each event. Members of the Elementary Science Olympiad include:

A Rigorous Path to Victory

Success at this level is the result of a disciplined preparation schedule from the beginning of the school year. The Elementary Science Olympiad team met every Tuesday and Thursday after school to refine their skills in specialized labs. This consistent effort allowed students to develop a deep understanding of complex scientific principles well beyond the standard curriculum.

The team was led by Mrs. Versteeg, our Elementary Science Lab Teacher, with support from a small group of professionals and 13 Upper School Science Olympiad members. This mentorship model, where older students assist in training the younger team, is a key component of our academic environment. The collaboration between the Lower School competitors and their Upper School mentors ensured a high level of readiness for the challenges presented at FAU.
