American Heritage Wins National Debate Championship
American Heritage Wins National Debate Championship
The Speech & Debate Team from American Heritage Schools, Broward Campus, has once again showcased its exceptional talent and dedication at the prestigious Tournament of Champions, hosted by the University of Kentucky. This year, the Broward campus achieved an extraordinary milestone as senior debater Spencer Swickle emerged as the Tournament of Champions (TOC) Lincoln-Douglas Debate Champion, marking the first time an American Heritage student has clinched this title.
Spencer's remarkable victory came after intense competition against the top 100 debaters from 58 schools across the nation. His success, winning 10 debate rounds over three grueling days, not only highlights his individual prowess but also brings immense pride to American Heritage, as AHS becomes the first Florida winner since 1995!
Alongside Spencer, senior debater Mason Cheng delivered an impressive performance, ranking in the top 20 among all participants. Additionally, junior Ronak Patel excelled, advancing to the top 24 in Extemporaneous Speaking. This remarkable achievement underscores the dedication and excellence of our students and the unwavering support of our debate coaching staff, including Mr. Spencer Orlowski, Mr. Stephen Scopa, and Mr. Thadeus Smith.
Congratulations to Spencer, Mason, Ronak, and the entire Speech & Debate Team for their outstanding accomplishments!
