74 Winners at State Medical Conference

The spirit of healthcare innovation and excellence was alive and thriving as the HOSA teams from both the Broward and Palm Beach campuses of American Heritage Schools journeyed to Orlando for the 2024 Florida HOSA State Leadership Conference. With determination and passion, over 160 students represented our school, competing in a variety of categories ranging from written tests and medical procedures to team events and performance categories, showcasing their skills and commitment to shaping the future of healthcare.

The goal? Securing a coveted spot in the top three positions, earning them the opportunity to compete at the International Leadership Conference (ILC) in Houston, Texas, this coming June.

But it wasn't just about individual achievements. American Heritage students demonstrated their collective impact, with more than 45 students receiving the prestigious Barbara James Award for their exceptional contributions to the medical field through community service. Moreover, the Broward (Sunrise) region stood out by raising the most funds for the Be the Match Foundation in the Penny Wars Fundraiser, showcasing their commitment to philanthropy and giving back.

The pinnacle of success came during the Grand Awards Session, where American Heritage celebrated over 74 state winners, each excelling in their respective competitive events and securing their tickets to the International Leadership Conference.

Additionally, senior Lauren Wong, who served this year as Sunrise Region President, was elected as the Florida HOSA Southern Vice President. She will continue to serve 16,000 Florida HOSA members as she attends the University of Florida in the fall.

Your passion for healthcare, commitment to excellence, and spirit of teamwork have truly made us proud. Together, we celebrate not only the victories of today but also the promise of a brighter and healthier tomorrow.
