Audition Requirements

Musical Theater/ Drama Requirements

Musical Theater 2 songs of contrasting nature from the following sources:

(CD or MP3 with no vocals is acceptable)

  • Rodgers/Hammerstein
  • Lerner/Lowe
  • Schwartz (before 1990)
  • Bernstein
  • Herman
  • Sondheim (Before 1990)

1 monologue

  • 2 minutes in length
  • Contemporary
  • Age-appropriate

Dance Audition Requirements

  • Self-choreographed solo contemporary - 1 minute minimum
  • Self-choreographed solo jazz - 1 minute minimum
  • Must demonstrate turns
  • Appropriate dance attire
  • Hair up
  • Please bring your music on a cd or mp3

Band audition Requirements

  • 12 major scales
  • Chromatic scale
  • 2 piece of choice – from the current Florida Bandmaster Association Solo and Ensemble list (accompaniment optional)
  • Sight reading

Band Instruments Accepted

  • Trumpet
  • Trombone
  • Clarinet
  • Oboe
  • Flute
  • Saxophone
  • Tuba
  • French Horn
  • Bassoon
  • Snare drum including all of the mallet or keyboard instruments (bells, xylophone, vibes and marimba).

Violin, Viola, Cello Requirements

  • 2 prepared pieces of contrasting styles – must be at least grade level 4
  • (A single level of a concerto is considered to be one piece.)
  • Accompaniment is optional
  • Your choice of 2 of the following major Scales and Arpeggios in 3 octaves G, D. A, C. Bb
  • Sight reading

Orchestra Instruments Accepted

  • Double Bass
  • Cello
  • Violin
  • Viola

Theater Tech audition / interview

Students interested in a Theatre Tech Scholarship must submit a letter or email to Ms. Hill at This letter should contain the reasons you want to be in Theatre Tech. In a separate letter or email, please send a "resume" any and all things involving art, show production, design, volunteering at a theatre, professional experience ... or more. After reading all the letters, the committee will call for an interview.
