South Florida’s Top Private School – American Heritage School
Welcome to American Heritage School! We are a private, non-sectarian, co-educational, college preparatory day school in South Florida with two 40-acre campuses–one in Plantation (a suburb of Fort Lauderdale in Broward County), and one in Boca Raton/Delray (in Palm Beach County), Florida. Our schools serve approximately 4,200 students in PK3 through 12th grades, and our student body is top rated in diversity with students representing over 60 different countries throughout the world. About 70 percent of the faculty holds a post-graduate degree, and the student/faculty ratio is 5 to 1.
We are a nationally ranked private school with a STEM-integrated college preparatory curriculum that provides our elite students from throughout South Florida with a rigorous education in a technologically advanced and well-rounded environment. Our Lower School includes advanced classes and 15 electives, and our Upper School offers over 300 courses with 135 honors classes, 28 Advanced Placement classes, and 75 fine arts classes. Pre-professional programs are offered in Pre-Med, Pre-Law, Pre-Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Computer Science that are taught daily by doctors, surgeons, lawyers, judges, engineers, and computer scientists currently practicing in their fields. Our Science Research Institute enables students to conduct research on real world problems, and our students have earned international recognition for their findings.
The students at both campuses in Plantation and Boca Raton/Delray Beach are served by approximately 775 instructors, counselors, and administrators, of whom 70% hold Masters or Doctoral degrees. Faculty turnover is minimal. To foster educational best practices and a love of learning, all our teachers participate in professional development throughout the year. Parents and students respect our dedicated, professional, competent, and caring faculty.
Our Fine Arts Department is recognized internationally. We welcome students with all abilities in the arts, and our low student to teacher ratio gives each student the chance to develop skills at his/her own pace. We believe a student should be well-rounded; we teach performance techniques and hands-on application, combined with theory, in all disciplines of study. We give all students various opportunities to display their talents, both on campus and throughout the region, country, and world. We are also proud to host, in our state of the art Fine Arts Building, the Junior Thespians District Festival and the High School Choral State Festival.
American Heritage offers a complete competitive sports program for boys and girls, with teams in all major sports. We have a "no cut" policy that allows an opportunity for every student to participate on the Patriot team of his or her choice. Many of our coaches are former professional athletes. They provide high-quality instruction enabling students to further develop their skills and build good character, leadership, and respect for others.
We believe that in addition to academics, arts, and athletics, students should develop a strong sense of social responsibility. We offer over 85 student clubs and activities, created and headed by students and each supervised by a faculty advisor. We celebrate diversity and welcome students of all religions, nationalities, ethnicities, and races. Our focus is to create a community of scholars who respect individual and group differences and who seek to become responsible citizens.
All American Heritage School graduates, 100% of the students, are accepted to four-year colleges. They attend a wide variety of selective colleges and universities. In the past three years, 65% of our students have matriculated to some of these out-of-state schools.
