SAT Test Preparation at American Heritage
Like it or not, standardized tests are becoming an increasingly important factor in the college admissions decisions. Research has shown that students who are familiar with test format and strategies do better on standardized tests. We are excited to be teaming with the Teach America program to give our students a competitive advantage in the college admissions process. Below is an overview of our SAT Preparation Program:
Summer SAT Preparation On-Campus - The Teach America program offers a course on the American Heritage Campus over the summer. This course is available only to American Heritage Students and is offered at a special rate.
SAT Preparation in the Classroom: Students in grades 9-11 will spend 80 minutes per month (an average of 20 minutes per week) honing specific test preparation strategies within their English and math classrooms. We use the proven New England Prep program created specifically for American Heritage School.
SAT Course On-Campus: We encourage all of our students to build on what they are learning in class by electing to take a Teach America course that is available at a discounted rate on campus. Courses are taught by Ray Dass, President and founder of Teach America, and meets 8th period, 9th period and after school. The SAT Preparation course runs for one quarter and is taken as a 7th class. To register, students MUST contact their Guidance Counselor.
Private or Small Group Tutoring: If the courses offered on campus are not convenient for your schedule, or if you feel that you would benefit from a smaller group or one-to-one environment, you may contact Teach America directly to arrange for private or small group tutoring. For more information, please contact Mr. Dass's assistant, Mrs. Carol Martorella, by email at carol.martorella@ahschool.com or by phone 954-472-0022 ext 3035.
