ANNOUNCING PERFORMING ARTS
SCHOLARSHIP AUDITIONS:

Fine Arts Scholarships are granted on an audition basis only. The requirements for said scholarships are listed on the next pages and divided into disciplines. Only these scholarships are granted at the present time and in the specific disciplines listed.

Appointments may be made by calling Mr. Jim Usher at 954-472-0022 Ext 3230 beginning Feb 1st thru March 12th, 2010. The actual auditions are as follows: Vocal Music and Music Theatre auditions March 22nd, 2010; Dance Auditions March 23rd, 2010; all Instrumental Auditions(Band and Orchestra) March 24th, 2010.

Band requirements:

  • 12 Major Scales in the All-State pattern in 2 minutes or less
  • Chromatic Scale extending the range of the instrument.
  • Both exercises from the 11th-12th Grade All-State requirement sheet.
  • One piece of choice. Accompaniment suggested.

Musical Theatre/voice Requirements:

  • 2 songs of contrasting nature from the follow sources:
    • Rodgers/Hammerstein
    • Lerner/Lowe
    • Schwartz(before 1990)
    • Bernstein
    • Herman
    • Sondheim(Before 1990)
    • CD with no vocals/ or sheet music in appropriate key is acceptable.

  • 1 monologue:
    • 2 minutes in length /contempory
    • age appropriate

Dance Scholarship Requirements:

  • Written Terminology Test
  • 90 dance audition = Full ballet barre & Jazz combo
  • Prepare a 2 minutes solo, any style.

Appropriate dance attire required. Hair up.

Orchestra Requirements:

Violins, Violas & Cellos will play:

  • TWO PREPARED PIECES of contrasting styles; must be at least grade level 4.
    • A single movement of a concerto is considered to be one piece.
    • Accompaniment is optional.
  • SCALES & ARPEGGIOS: your choice of TWO of the following major scales & arpeggios in 3 octaves: G, D, A, C, Bb
  • SIGHT READING

Basses have the same requirements as above with the following exception:

  • SCALES & ARPEGGIOS must be 2 octaves
