Curriculum and Technology

Our teachers utilize a multi-sensory approach to learning along with a wide variety of individualized educational resources and technology. Students receive instruction in small groups or in a one-on-one environment. They participate in an interesting and interactive curriculum through the use of iMac computers, iPads, and hands-on learning opportunities in our outdoor Environmental Educational Center, state-of-the art science labs, theater, and art studios. The class size is limited to 12 students, one highly trained and certified ESE teacher, and a supportive and nurturing teacher’s assistant.

Students are assessed throughout the school year in the classroom and in the reading lab. Results of formal and informal assessments along with standardized tests in the spring are used by teachers and administrators to determine proper placement of each student throughout the school year and for the following school year.

Technology

Academy students learn computer skills in state-of-the-art technology labs as well as on their iPads used in the classroom on a daily basis. We have an ongoing commitment to offer the latest technology to all our students. In Lower School, every student works with an iPad, and there are several computers in each classroom equipped with software that correlates to the curriculum used in class.

Computers in our Library/Media Center provide our older students with access to the finest libraries and information centers in the world. A full time library/technology assistant is available to show students the most effective way to research using the Internet as well as software available in the Library/Media Center
