Meet our Camp Directors

Camp Directors

Bob Stone grew up in Boston where his fondest memories are attending day camps and sleep away camps. He enjoyed playing golf, squash, and soccer in his teen years and received his undergraduate degree from Tufts University. Bob then went on to receive his law degree from the University of Miami and his Masters in Education from FAU. Bob founded American Heritage Summer Day Camps in Boca Raton/Delray Beach, Florida with the desire to emulate certain aspects about the qualities of sleep away camp that inspired him. He was on a mission to provide an environment for campers where they could learn and grow through instructional sports programs and other traditional camp activities. Bob is proud of our camp legacy as we enter our 33rd summer of American Heritage Summer Day Camps as one of the premier camps in Palm Beach County. Our campers grow with us through the years gaining confidence to pursue their passions and to serve as respected leaders in society.

Sally Phipps-Schleifer was a camper at American Heritage and enjoyed it so much she came back and has worked at American Heritage Summer Day Camps for 18 years. Sally now serves as the Assistant Camp Director. She attended Auburn University and Lynn University where she played soccer and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. Sally is married to Coach Brian Schleifer, Director of the American Heritage Tennis Team for the past 20 years. They have three children who attend American Heritage School.

Gail Schneider grew up in Maryland and attended the University of Maryland where she earned a degree in Business Management. She worked on the sales management team of Reebok and Saucony for 25 years. In 2009, Gail joined the American Heritage family bringing along her two sons who have since graduated and are playing baseball in college.

AMERICAN HERITAGE CAMP PHILOSOPHY

The goal of American Heritage Camp is to provide each camper with a happy, healthy, active experience. Our program offers a variety of activities that will enable each child to enjoy an enriching summer, while making new friends and developing new interests which often last a lifetime. Our camp staff has been carefully selected on the basis of experience, character, and leadership ability to achieve this goal by setting positive examples and maintaining high standards of excellence in all phases of camp operations. We all look forward to spending the summer with your family.

A HIGH STAFF TO CAMPER RATIO

A highly qualified, well-trained and mature staff is essential to the success of any program. We maintain a high staff to camper ratio for the benefit of our campers. We have brought together a group of coaches and counselors who are friendly, responsive, understanding, and able to provide campers with leadership and guidance. In addition, each of our instructors has an excellent knowledge of the mechanics of their specialty and the most productive way to convey that knowledge to our campers. Several of our staff members have been a part of our camp family for over a decade.

CAMPERS 3-14:  CABINS/GROUPING

American Heritage Summer Camp specializes in summer fun for children ages 3-14. Campers ages 6 and up have three different programs to choose from. We have our general American Heritage Sports Camp, Musical Theatre Academy, and Young Artists Camp. Cabins for ages 3-5 are co-ed, while ages 6-14 have separate boys’ and girls’ cabins. Each age level enjoys age appropriate sports, arts, games and other activities supervised by our highly qualified staff. All cabins (which are classrooms during the school year) are air-conditioned.

DAILY SCHEDULES:  TIME TO HAVE FUN

Camp is in session Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A half-day program from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. is available for younger children ages 3 & 4. They also have the full day option. Our two beautiful pools offer welcome relief from the summer heat for our campers. At the beginning of the summer, each camper’s swimming ability is evaluated,, and campers are placed in appropriate level swim groups for instruction. The swim program at American Heritage is committed to providing age-appropriate, sequential instruction in a safe and non-threatening environment. All swim instructors and life guards are Red Cross certified.

CARNIVALS, WILD ANIMALS & REPTILES, SLEEPOVERS, & MORE
