DRESS CODE
A student's appearance is a reflection of himself (herself), the parents and American Heritage/American Academy. All clothing items are to be clean and in good repair at all times. Uniforms are not to be altered without permission from Administration. The following dress code has been designed to give our students a traditional, conservative look in keeping with our philosophy.

We expect total compliance; students not in compliance will not be allowed to attend classes. Full dress code is in effect on campus daily from time of arrival to time of departure or 6:00 P.M., whichever comes first.

MALES
Shirts: must be regulation cotton knit (of red, black or white with a Heritage logo) purchased through the school. All shirt tails must be neatly tucked into slacks or shorts at all times.

Slacks: regulation uniform slacks must be hemmed and of ankle-length and must be purchased through the school. Pants will have company logo on them. Pants must be worn at waist level with a belt of khaki, black or brown color. The whole belt must be visible.

Shorts
: of khaki color or navy color with school logo must be purchased through the school.

FEMALES
Shirts: must be regulation cotton knit (of red, black or white with Heritage logo) purchased through the school. All shirts tails must be neatly tucked into slacks or shorts at all times.

Slacks
: regulation uniform slacks must be hemmed and of ankle-length and must be purchased through the school. Pants will have company logo on them. Pants must be worn at waist level with a belt of khaki, black or brown color. The whole belt must be visible. Pants/shorts are not to be rolled, unbuttoned, altered, etc.

Shorts: of khaki or navy color with Heritage logo which must be purchased through the school. Any leg covering (tights, panty hose) worn under shorts must be flesh colored.

Cold Weather Attire - Should weather or personal preference dictate that an undergarment be worn under the regulation "polo" shirt, it must be a solid color, short sleeved, and contain no text. A Heritage uniform sweat shirt may be worn over the regulation "polo" shirt. The shirt collar must be evident. A Heritage jacket (satin or wool) or Heritage black cardigan may also be worn. Neither the sweat shirt nor the sweater is to be worn around the waist.

Hair - is to be kept neat and clean. Administration will decide on what constitutes "bizarre" on an individual basis. Students who experiment with hair risk being held from classes indefinitely. Hair styles and hair color that do not attract attention are required. Examples of inappropriate styles are ponytails on top of the head, multi-colored hair, shaved designs in hair, etc.

Shoes - low-top or high-top tennis or athletic shoes. Topsiders (deck shoes), dress shoes and penny loafers are also allowed. Combat boots, cowboy boots, work boots, zories and sandals of any kind are not allowed. Shoes exposing heel and/or toe are not acceptable. Socks, if worn, must be red, white or black.

Hats - no hats or caps on campus until after 6:00 p.m. Kerchief head coverings are never allowed on campus.

Jewelry - must be conservative. No heavy chains may be worn at any time. See Handbook for specifics.

I.D. cards are to be worn on shirt collar; card is not to be defaced.

Misc: - no visible tattoos permitted; makeup must be conservative.
