Kyle Robinson ‘07 Pursues His Dream
at Columbia University
|
Kyle Robinson graduated from Heritage in 2007 and is currently a freshman at Columbia University. In fact, the Heritage College Tour met up with him in the fall during their New York tour and were shown around the campus by Kyle.
Robinson distinguished himself at Heritage as President of National Honor Society (12),
President of Pre-Med Club (12), President of Science National Honor Society (12), and manager of the school Blood Drives. He also took all of the courses and the internship in the Honors Pre-Med program, convinced, early on, that he was destined for a career in the field of medicine. He is now moving closer to his goal as a Biophysics major at Columbia and will receive his Bachelor’s degree in 2011. The career he has chosen to pursue is interventional radiology. That sort of medicine requires current imaging techniques to aid the physician during the most delicate surgeries.
You may recall that Kyle was one of our recipients of The Miami Herald’s Silver Knight Award in the Category of Science. He was also awarded a Grisham Scholarship, a Scholarship from Community Blood Center of South Florida and a Madeline Lisy Scholarship for Science and Medicine.
In a recent e-mail, Kyle stated that the Pre-Med Program and other science classes Heritage offered helped him decide firmly that he wished to be a medical doctor. He went on to say, “The courses taught at American Heritage School have prepared me exceedingly well for a college education. Because of Heritage’s Pre-Medical Program and outstanding professional faculty, my knowledge in science and medicine far surpasses that of my college peers. My professors at Columbia University are thoroughly impressed with the subjects and books with which I am conversant and compliment
American Heritage on the quality of my education. The spectrum of responses I receive when I explain that I have already taken organic chemistry, multivariable calculus, and pathology range from raised
eyebrows to fallen jaws. The unique combination of the vast opportunities and qualified faculty make American Heritage School exceptional and unparalleled as a learning institution.”
This is not a one dimensional young man. When not involved in his studies, Kyle composes and plays music on the piano and amuses himself by reading philosophy and experiencing the sights, sounds and weather of New York City.
