Admission FAQs

What is the admission process?
The first step is to take a personal tour of our campus so that an admission director can answer firsthand any questions you may have about our program. At the end of the tour, the director will review the application forms and other required documents.

What are the requirements for admission?
Enrollment to American Heritage is limited to students who have average to gifted intelligence and are working on or above grade level.

What records do you need from the applicant?
Please provide copies of your child’s report cards for the last two years. In addition, we will need two letters of recommendation. Recommendation letters may be completed on the form provided, and must be sent directly from the current school or be in a sealed envelope. Once we have received all necessary records, the Admissions Department will call your child’s school to verify attendance and discipline record. Other documents required are the application, parent questionnaire and, if the applicant is entering Grades 6-12, a student questionnaire.

Do you do any admissions testing?
Yes, the Admissions Department requires ability and/or readiness evaluations for all applicants. The application, records, recommendations, and student application are due one week prior to testing. A testing fee of $100 is due on the day of the test.

How do I schedule a tour or admissions test?
Please call our admissions office at 954-472-0022 ext. 3001 to schedule a tour or a test.

Are academic or athletic scholarships available?
An academic scholarship test for students entering the ninth grade takes place each year in February. Applications for this scholarship test are available from late November through January. We also offer Fine Arts scholarships, and interested candidates should contact Jim Usher (jusher@ahschool.com) for more information. We have no athletic scholarships available.

Is financial aid offered?
Financial aid is available for qualified families in the form of tuition reduction grants for up to 40% of tuition.

What is the difference between American Heritage and American Academy?
American Heritage is a college preparatory school for students with average to gifted intelligence working on or above grade level. American Academy is a college preparatory school for students with average to gifted intelligence who need a more individualized education in a small classroom setting. Students in Academy may have dyslexia or A.D.D. and are working on grade level to one to two years below grade level.
