Kenneth D. Padowitz, originally from New York, grew up in South Florida and has resided here since 1971. He graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and from Nova Southeastern Law School with a Juris Doctor degree. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1986 and is a member of the Federal and Appellate Bar.
A former prosecutor with the Broward County State Attorney’s Office for 16 years, Padowitz has tried over 250 jury trials, including over 35 first degree murder trials. As an Assistant State Attorney in the Homicide Unit, he prosecuted many high-profile trials, including the case against Lionel Tate, a 12 year old indicted by a grand jury as an adult in the murder of a 6-year-old girl, Tiffany Eunich. The defendant blamed professional wrestling for the child’s death. The jury convicted him of first-degree murder.

In a case involving a hit and run driver, Padowitz presented to the jury a computer animation reenactment of the crime. This was the first time such evidence was presented at trial in the state of Florida. The appellate court upheld this visual evidence in a written opinionthe first case law in the United States to allow the use of animation in a criminal trial.
Ken Padowitz has been an adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University Law Center for the past 14 years. He was a faculty instructor for the National Institute Of Trial Advocacy, Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association, University Of Florida Law School Prosecutor/Public Defender course, Institute Of Police Technology and Management and the National Student Leadership Conference. He sits on a Grievance Committee for the Florida Bar, which handles matters of attorney misconduct and discipline.
Padowitz is frequently called upon by the news media for opinions and discussion on various legal issues being debated in the country and our community. He has appeared on ABC-Good Morning America, Larry King Live, The O’Riley Factor, Phil Donohue, The John Walsh Show, CNN News and Headline News, NBC-The Today Show, MSNBC News, Fox News, Burden of Proof, Greta Van Sustern’s The Point, Court TV and many other international television shows. He has also appeared in publications such as the National Trial Lawyers Magazine, People Magazine, Readers Digest, and the front page of The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Miami Herald and Sun-Sentinel and other publications.
