7th Grade Planning for College
Use your Daily Planner:
- Record class assignments
- Keep track of important deadlines
- Develop good study habits
- Manage your time by planning your schedule
Get involved in extracurricular activities:
- Pursue your interests and devlop talents
- Check out our website for a list of sports and clubs
- Listen for announcements and look for posted signs regarding meetings
Review National Honor Society requirements:
- Consult student handbook for semesters used to compute GPA
- Attain Scholarship (3.8 cumulative GPA)
- Possess outstanding character
- Develop leadership qualities
- Perform Service (30 community service hours in the previous 12 months)
Perform community service:
- Perform community service for National Honor society (see above)
- Keep record for college applications, school, scholarships and special recognition
Spring Semester
College Planning Meeting:
- Parents are strongly recommended to attend College Planning Meeting with Ms. Polin, Director of College Planning - see newsletter for specific
Choose courses for 8th grade:
- Indicate interest in higher level courses with your classroom teachers
- Turn in choice sheet for electives
- Look into courses for high school credit
Investigate summer programs:
- Expand your knowledge and experiences
- Attend camps, summer college programs or enrichment programs
