 Our faculty is committed to offering a higher quality of instruction to our students.  We have a place for every child who has a love for music and a desire to succeed.  Our choruses are committed to a high standard of performance that will challenge every student.  Exciting performance opportunities abound for our choral students.  We enjoy helping our students achieve their greatest musical potential.

Vocal Course Offerings

Beginning High School Chorus             Period 2

This class offers students instruction in the fundamentals of good singing technique.  Students will present several concerts throughout the school year.  Emphasis will be placed on sight reading and rhythm skills, as well as good choral technique.  No previous experience is necessary, and the class is open to all AHS high school students.

 

Advanced High School Chorus (H)     Period 5/6

This class builds upon the basic techniques of beginning chorus and focuses on musical interpretation and style.  This group maintains an active performance schedule, and is open to qualified students by audition.  One highlight of this year’s season will be a year-end performance in New York City’s Carnegie Hall. By Audition Only.

 

Middle School Chorus                Period 9 (MWF)

This class gives middle school students a basic background in music and singing.  Fundamentals of good technique are learned, and students participate in several performances throughout the year.  No previous singing experience is necessary, and the class is open to all AHS middle school students.

 

Musical Theatre Workshop                   Period 8

This class offers students who are seriously interested in musical theatre a chance to polish their performing skills.  A variety of genres of musical theatre will be studied.  Students will practice solo and ensemble performing techniques, and present performances once per quarter.  Special emphasis will be placed on proper voice usage, including maintaining vocal health.  Open to all students who are committed to improving their musical theatre skills.
