Grades 1-5 Strings (Orchestra) / Course Syllabus
Class meets for fifity minutes each time. Two days a week in fifth grade (TTh) and one day a week in grades (1-4).
Methods used include:
- Essential Elements for Strings / String Method by Michael Allen ( vol. 1)
- Concert Tunes for Beginning Strings by Dale Brubaker ( vols. 1&2)
- Age appropriate Literature.
- Participation in All-County and Solo and Ensemble Festivals is highly encouraged and recommended.
- Performances throughout the year include: Winter and Spring Concerts
- Music USA Festivals Competition at Universal Studios / Orlando ( Spring )
- Various school functions.
- Extracurricular performance opportunities are also available through membership
in the Youth Orchestras of Palm Beach County which include a May concert at the
Kravis Center as part of their Spotlight for Young Musicians.

Fifth Grade Band / Course Syllabus
Class meets for fifty minutes each day three times a week (MWF).
Methods used include:
- Standard of Excellence Band method by Bruce Pearson ( vol. 1 )
- First Performance Series for Young Bands by Bruce Pearson
- Age appropriate Literature.
- Performances throughout the year include: Winter and Spring Concerts
- Music USA Festivals Competition at Universal Studios / Orlando ( Spring )
- Various school functions.
- Extracurricular performance opportunities are also available through membership
in the Youth Orchestras of Palm Beach County which include a May concert at the
Kravis Center as part of their Spotlight for Young Musicians.

Middle and High School Orchestras / Course Syllabus
Minimum one year playing experience and / or permission of instructor required.
Class meets for fifity minutes each day. Two days a week in Middle School (TTh) and five days a week in High School.
Scale studies, technical studies (etudes), and string orchestra literature of varied styles is the core of the c uirriculum.
Methods used include:
- Essential Elements for Strings / String Method by Michael Allen ( vols. 1,2 & 3 )
- Wolfahrt Foundation Studies for violin & viola ( vols. 1 & 2 )
- Schroeder Foundation Studies for the Violoncello ( vols. 1, 2, & 3 )
- Participation in All-State, All-County, All District, and Solo and Ensemble Festivals is highly encouraged and recommended.
- Performances throughout the year include: Winter and Spring Concerts
- Music USA Festivals Competition at Universal Studios / Orlando ( Spring )

- Great Warm Ups for Young Bands by Bruce Pearson
- Rubank Advanced Methods ( vols. 1&2 )
- Learn to Improvise Jazz books by Jamey Aebersold
- Participation in All-State, All-County, All District, and Solo and Festivals is highly encouraged and recommended.
- Performances throughout the year include: High School (Jazz) Band is our Pep Band for Home Football Games. Winter and Spring Concerts
- Music USA Festivals Competition at Universal Studios / Orlando ( Spring )
- Various school functions.
