Academics

The curriculum for the pre-primary child is developmental and age appropriate at each level. Thematic units of study include instruction in the areas of language arts, reading readiness, mathematics, social studies and sciences. Daily language, speech and auditory development activities help children to listen, understand, speak and learn effectively.

The pre-primary department seeks to maximize the academic potential of each child while fostering a positive self-image and providing the skills necessary for the next level of education. In addition, there is an emphasis on activities and materials designed to develop the full range of motor skills.

Our pre-primary program recognizes that young children learn best in an environment rich in sensory experiences. Our free play, music, art and drama activities stimulate creativity and self-expression. Our unique fully equipped science lab helps our youngest students grasp basic science concepts through observation and manipulation of a variety of materials. As a child progresses through Kindergarten, more emphasis is placed on math and reading readiness in preparation for first grade.

We realize that children develop at different rates, and our pre-primary program is designed to assure success at each level.

Specialty Classes

In addition to regular classroom learning activities, pre-primary students take specialty classes in art, music, science lab, Spanish, computers, and library/media once a week. PE meets twice a week. These classes provide an opportunity for our youngest students to begin to develop special talents at early ages.

These special classes are taught by instructors certified in the subject areas and with years of experience in their fields.

Qualified Staff
All of our pre-primary teachers are college educated, well trained and experienced in pre-primary. They are warm, caring professionals with the experience and training to prepare our youngest students for elementary school. In addition to the teacher, each class has a full-time assistant to aid in classroom work and play. The small pupil to teacher ratio guarantees that each child's needs are met.
After School Enrichment/Care

There is also an after school care program which lasts until 6:00 p.m. each day. There are reasonable extra fees required for both programs. Free child care is available each morning from 6:30 a.m. until school begins.

In addition, a Corporate Care program is available which provides a year round program of quality education and care for your young child. Corporate Care is available every day except weekends and eight legal holidays from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for children in preschool through grade six.
